A tragic shooting ended the beautiful Latin pop star Selena Quintanilla’s life twenty-two years ago on March 31st. Before her untimely death, she got real about her musical roots. Her uplifting spirit and inspirational journey will always be remembered by the thousands of fans who worshipped her songs. This quote embodies the influence she had within her high pressure industry. She voices the concerns of not only Hispanic and Latin women, but all females who’ve ever felt disempowered by the patriarchal notions embedded in our society. She’s a reminder that women do have the power to influence the public, whether you’re performing in the media’s eye or fighting for a just cause.
