He's definitely worth more than 50 cents.
There’s been a lot of speculation around the 50 Cent net worth, especially after he filed for bankruptcy in June 2015.
According to Forbes, 50 Cent’s net was around $155 million before he filled for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. That’s a lot of money. But is is correct?
50 Cent is definitely not shy when it comes to posing with tons of cash and luxurious things, which makes us wonder what the 50 Cent net worth really is. Apparently, though, a lot changes in two years because Celebrity Net Worth reports 50 Cent’s net worth to be $15 million in 2017.
Here’s a brief history on his total wealth.
In 2014, 50 Cent lost a $17 million lawsuit to Sleek, an audio company who claimed he stole their designs for his SMS Audio brand, according to MTV.
Then in June of 2015, The Wallstreet Journal reported that 50 Cent filed for bankruptcy after a judge in Connecticut ordered him to pay Rick Ross’ ex girlfriend, Lastonia Leviston, $5 million for buying her sex tape and posting it online without her permission.
According to court documents, 50 Cent reported assets and debts in the $10 to $50 million range. In the same documents, he reported his net worth to be $16 million.
In order to pay everything, 50 Cent had to sell his mansion, which he bought from boxer Mike Tyson in 2003. Originally, 50 Cent wanted $18.5 million for the luxury 21 bedroom, 25 bathroom home in Connecticut, but he ended up settling for $10 million.
But before all this happened, 50 Cent rose to fame in 2003 with the release of his hit album, “Get Rich or Die Trying,” which is still praised to this day. At the time, he was one of the biggest rappers in the industry. He’s a Grammy-winning, multi-platinum selling artist, who has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.
Although he’s not the highest-selling rapper of his generation, like Eminem and JAY-Z, he’s definitely up there with them.
50 Cent has also produced a total of five studio albums. And even after his bankruptcy scandal, he continues to produce and make music. Go Fiddy!
In 2005, 50 Cent starred in his first major role in the film “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” marking the beginning of his acting career.
He’s been in various films, including roles in the 2015 boxing flick “Southpaw” and the 2013 action-thriller “Escape Plan.” Each film brought over $90 million and $137 million in the box office, respectively, bringing 50 Cent’s net worth even up even more.
Also, 50 Cent currently stars in and produces Starz series, “Power.”
50 Cent’s endorsement in 2007 with Vitaminwater allowed him to create his own drink, “Formula 50.” This brought him more money than his rapping career did. He made $100 to $150 million off the sale, before taxes.
He also recently had an endorsement deal with Frigo Revolution Wear, a men’s underwear brand. The deal was worth $78 million.
Looks like he did pretty well for himself – you know, before all of the lawsuits he had to pay for.
