ENTITY explains the best time to post a picture on Instagram.

There is no universal best time to post a picture on Instagram. While some times work best for more Instagram accounts than others, every person is going to have to figure out their own schedule for themselves. ENTITY explains how you can personally find the best time to post a picture on Instagram.

1 Create Starting Times

It would be unwise to choose a random time for your Instagram posts. Even if you’re testing out times, you’re still trying to grow your account!

You should post content around the same time for a few weeks. This way, you can get an idea of the reach during this time on each day. ENTITY recommends using weekday mornings—especially on Monday—as a way to start.

Download Instagram Insights to determine how many accounts your posts reached. After you get an average number, you can test out a new schedule.

2 Test Other Times

If you have over 100 followers, you can use the “Audience” tab in Instagram Insights to determine when your followers are online. At the bottom of the tab, there should be a bar chart that graphs follower activity. Make sure the button in the right corner is set to “Hours,” then click through the various days to see which times your followers are most active.

Use these times as “tests.” Every few posts, deviate from your usual time of posting to experiment with new posting hours.

3 Measure and Adjust

When analyzing results, measure the reach of your first posts to the reach of the “test” post. For example, let’s say I was consistently posting photos at 9 AM for two weeks, and I wanted to test the time 6 PM on a Thursday. If I reached an average of 118 accounts on Thursdays at 9 AM and a reach of 158 accounts at 6, I would probably change my Thursday posting schedule to 6 PM.

As time goes on, you can determine what times of each day are the most beneficial to your account. Eventually, you will have a set schedule for your account, and you won’t need to Google things like “best time to post on Instagram on Friday.”

At least until the algorithm changes again.

Although this process is hard work, it’s worth it. Unfortunately, there is no universal best time to post a photo on Instagram. Each account is specific, and so is their audience. But although we can’t provide an answer, at least you know how to find the answer!
